Brief, cried the Psalmist, is the total spanOf the brief days that build the life of man.—Ay, royal singer on Judean hills,The cup is narrow; but the wine that fillsThe cup may mean an ocean in its rim.A thousand years are as a day to HimWho pours our draughts of joy and tears:To us a day may be a thousand years.
