Rome, 43 BC – AD 17. One of the great Latin poets, master of the love elegy and author of the Metamorphoses; at the height of his fame Augustus banished him to the shores of the Black Sea, where he died. The Amores sing of his mistress Corinna. His work is in the public domain.
